Rachid Bouhamidi is an American artist born in 1981 in southern California to a French mother and a Moroccan father. He studied at a Franco-American high school and later at a public school in Palm Desert, California. In 2006, he graduated in fine arts from the prestigious School of the Art Institute of Chicago and in 2010 he completed his master's in art at Boston University.

At a young age he was influenced by popular art such as comics and by the working class culture of the Hispanic neighborhoods of Los Angeles. These first art lessons started at the age of 6 and he decided to become an artist at the age of 14, attending for the first time an exhibition of etchings by Francisco Goya in Pomona. At the age of 18 he began his exploration of his mixed and ethnic cultural identity and thus discovered his passion for figurative painting and the formalist concerns of art.
